Story

Acoustic Gardens was developed for and demo’d at a festival held by Sovereign Nature Initiative at the cultural ecology space of DeCuevel, Amsterdam.

This AR/AI mobile app was designed to meet the needs of on-site ecologists and innovate in business research and development.

The app guides a player to record local bird sounds, and through biodiversity feedback, people grow a generatively assembled, site-specific 3D avatar, that comes to represent a ‘spirit of the place’ through collective listening.

"I had the experience of collaborating with Chris on an R&D project we funded at Sovereign Nature Initiative, where he crafted an AI-driven app for bird bioacoustic recording in Amsterdam. Chris's expertise was pivotal, blending managerial skills with technical prowess and creativity. The tool wasn't merely functional; it allowed for immersive citizen participation to important ecological goals. I wholeheartedly endorse Chris for turning a challenging vision into a powerful, real-world tool that can foster long-term human-wildlife coexistence."
